Luettke Firearms Consulting, Inc. (formerly known as Firearms Training and Interstate Nexus Consulting, LLC) specializes in firearms and ammunition consulting services as well as firearms identification training. We assist clients with firearm classification questions, firearms identification, general firearms questions, and expert witness consulting and/or courtroom testimony.
In March 2023, Brian was retained by the law firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP located in New York to perform expert firearms consulting in the criminal case(s) involving actor Alec Baldwin and the shooting incident during the filming of the movie titled Rust. Brian examined the physical evidence seized from the movie set, including the Pietta revolver, other firearms used on the set, and ammunition (live and dummy rounds).
Brian worked closely with the trial attorneys and provided them with the firearms knowledge needed for the defense of the client.

Brian Luettke is the primary consultant and trainer for Luettke Firearms Consulting, Inc.
Brian served 29 years in law enforcement which included four years as a police officer in Novi, Michigan and 25 years in Federal law enforcement prior to his retirement in October 2020. In his last 22 years in law enforcement, he served as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).
When Brian retired from ATF, he was a Supervisory Special Agent and the Chief of the Advanced Firearms and Interstate Nexus (Training) Branch located within the Firearms and Ammunition Technology Division (FATD) in Martinsburg, West Virginia. During this position, Brian was the training branch supervisor and instructor for an advanced level firearms identification training course.

Firearm Consulting Services
We offer firearms consulting and expert witness services to defense attorneys, government attorneys, firearm manufacturers, and to firearm component companies (e.g. trigger manufacturers). We have consulted for attorneys representing clients in both criminal and civil cases.

Expert Witness & Court Testimony
Our primary firearms consultant has testified as an expert witness in Federal court over 30 times in the following areas: firearms and ammunition identification, firearm and ammunition Interstate Nexus, firearms classification (GCA & NFA), firearms operability, the use of various types of firearms, and firearm values.

Firearms Identification Training
We provide firearms identification training to law enforcement officers, Michigan (MCOLES) police academies, FFL’s, government attorneys and to defense attorneys. Our firearms identification training program concentrates on the firearms which fall under the purview of the National Firearms Act of 1934 (“NFA”) and the Gun Control Act of 1968 (“GCA”).

Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) and Special Occupational Tax (SOT)
We are fully licensed by the ATF and possess a Type 07 FFL and SOT.
